“Pura Vida”, pure life is the Costa Rican image. Yet, rural communities along the south Pacific coast are struggling with rapid economic changes. Many generations of families have subsistence farms containing hundreds of acres of rain forest. Development pressures are threatening traditional land use and the natural environment. Students at the Bahia and San Josecito elementary schools participated in a photo story workshop focusing on the natural beauty of their community.
